Behind the bench
Founded by Evdokia Balatsouka, The Baptist is shaped by a journey that began in Greece, beneath Mount Olympus, and continues in Saltaire, UK.
With a background in Ancient Greek and social theology, the work draws on ancient motifs, esoteric imagery, and symbolic forms — reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
Working through traditional processes of wax carving and metalsmithing techniques, each piece reflects an evolving language of form, material, and intention.
Always made in small runs or as one-of-a-kind objects, the work invites a more personal kind of connection — something to wear, but also to collect & cherish.
